Academic scholarships for international HAW Hamburg Master students

Scholarship Description
Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (or, HAW Hamburg) awards scholarships to its academically strong international students studying both its Bachelor degree programmes and Master degree programmes 

The good news is that the City of Hamburg subsidises degree programmes at Hamburg universities, so the school does not charge tuition fees for national and international students except for professional Master's programmes.

Eligible students are invited to take advantage of these Academic scholarships for international HAW Hamburg Master students, and apply to HAW Hamburg as outlined in the instructions below.

Eligibility 
Scholarship prerequisites:
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a Master's programme* at the HAW Hamburg
  • Applicants must have completed their school education outside of Germany or have graduated from a Studienkolleg
  • Applicants must not be eligible for BAföG**
* Students in Design degree programmes (Illustration, Communication Design, Fashion- Textile and Costume Design) as well as students of Public Health, Public Management, Sozial- und Gesundheitsmanagement and degree programmes in collaboration with Heide and Lüchow-Dannenberg cannot apply for scholarships.

** If you fulfill the basic application criteria according to §8 of the BAföG law (Federal Training Assistance Act), you will not be eligible for this scholarship according to the scholarship regulations. This is independent of whether you actually receive funding from BAföG or not.

Academic requirements:
Applicants must fulfill one of the following academic requirements:

a) Non-engineering students: completion of a Bachelor's degree or Diplom in the Regelstudienzeit with a grade of at least 2.0 (or equivalent to German system, if the degree is from outside Germany)

b) Engineering students: completion of a Bachelor's degree or Diplom in the Regelstudienzeit with a grade of at least 2.2 (or equivalent to German system, if the degree is from outside Germany)

c) All grades for the first semester in a Master's programme at the HAW Hamburg better than at least 2.5, also for extensions.

Ideally students should also have completed an internship and have been involved in a social project or worked as a volunteer.

Sponsorship duration
The scholarship is for one semester; an extension for a further two semesters is possible.

Scholarship benefits
The award has value of up to 500 Euros/month (4 months per semester)

Method of Application
Please complete the application form(pdf) and submit it to the International Office of the HAW Hamburg. The scholarships are awarded by a commission of the HAW Hamburg.

There are two application deadlines for the winter and summer semesters every year -- 30th October (for the winter semester) and 30th April (for the summer semester).

The current deadline is 30th October 2016 (for the winter semester) and 30th April 2017 (for the summer semester)
