Academic scholarships for international HAW Hamburg Bachelor students

Scholarship Description 
Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (otherwise called, HAW Hamburg) awards scholarships to its academically strong international students studying both its Bachelor degree programmes and Master degree programmes

The good news is that the City of Hamburg subsidises degree programmes at Hamburg universities, so the school does not charge tuition fees for national and international students except for professional Master's programmes.

Eligible students are invited to take advantage of these Academic scholarships for international HAW Hamburg Bachelor students, and apply to HAW Hamburg as outlined in the instructions below.

Eligibility
Scholarship prerequisites:
  • Applicants must be enrolled as students at the HAW Hamburg
  • Applicants must have completed their school education outside of Germany or have graduated from a Studienkolleg
  • Applicants must not be eligible for BAföG* 
  • Students in design degree programmes cannot participate in this programme
*If you fulfill the basic application criteria according to §8 of the BAföG law (Federal Training Assistance Act), you will not be eligible for this scholarship according to the scholarship regulations. This is independent of whether you actually receive funding from BAföG or not.

Academic requirements:
Applicants must fulfil one of the following academic requirements

a) non-engineering students: completion of all courses of the first two semesters [within two semesters] with a grade average of at least 2.5 

b) engineering students: completion of all courses of the first two semesters [within two semesters] with a grade average of at least 2.9

c) engineering students: completion of all courses except two of the first two semesters [within two semesters] with a grade average of at least 2.5

The scholarship is for one semester; an extension for a further two semesters is possible, if all the courses per semester are completed with a grade average of at least 2.5

Scholarship benefits
The award has value of up to 400 Euros/month (4 months per semester).

Method of Application 
Please complete the application form(pdf) and submit it to the International Office of the HAW Hamburg. The scholarships are awarded by a commission of the HAW Hamburg.

DEADLINES:
There are two application deadlines for the winter and summer semesters every year -- 30th September (for the winter semester) and 30th March (for the summer semester).

The current deadline is 30th September 2016 (for the winter semester) and 30th March 2017 (for the summer semester)
