Scholarship description
Chalmers University of Technology will award a number of scholarships - the Avancez Scholarships, funded by the Chalmers Foundation, to international students from countries outside the Europe Union or the European Economic Area.
These scholarship awards are available to all citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are liable to pay tuition fees for Swedish university education. The exact number of scholarships to be awarded would be decided by the Chalmers Foundation at a later date.
Eligible candidates are now encouraged to apply for the 2017/2018 academic year edition of the Avancez Scholarships.

The selection is based on the applicants' relative academic excellence, which primarily includes weighted average grade but also home university´s stature (including position on global ranking lists) and priority order of the application for Chalmers Master´s programmes.

Citizens of ALL non-EU/EEA countries, which would include:
Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden
Fields of Study
The field(s) of study to which the scholarships will be awarded is determined annually by the University President.
For the academic year 2017/18 the field of study is unrestricted, but it will be distributed according to targeted areas of education determined by the university management, based on the total number of applicants per each area of education from previous academic year.
Number of awards
Usually over 40 awards are available each year. However, the exact number of scholarships for the current academic year is yet to be decided by the Chalmers Foundation.
Sponsorship duration
This will cover the WHOLE duration of the masters programme -- i.e. 2 year programmes of 4 semesters each.
Scholarship benefits
The Avancez scholarships covers 75% of the tuition fee for all available Master´s programmes at Chalmers. This translates to a 75% reduction of the tuition fees for the whole 2 year programme of 4 semesters.
Students who excel during their first year of studies may receive an increased scholarship reduction, which covers 85% of the tuition fee during the second and final year of studies.
No funds are transferred to the scholarship laureates.
Please note that these scholarships do not cover living expenses in Sweden - they are awarded as a tuition fee reduction, covering 75% of the tuition fee.
Method of Application
It is obligatory to submit an application for Chalmers Master's programmes at University Admissions prior to making a scholarship application. Only then will you be able to obtain your individual application number, which must be entered correctly in the scholarship application portal in order for the foundation to obtain information about what Master's programmes you have applied to at Chalmers, etc.

The scholarship is generally awarded to students based on academic merits, which primarily includes academic excellence. Home university´s stature (including position on global ranking lists), priority order of the application for Chalmers Master´s programmes as well as Chalmers ambition to promote diversity among international Master´s students is also taken into consideration
For students with excellent academic performance during the first year of studies, the scope of these scholarships may be increased to cover 85% of the tuition fee during the second and final year of studies.
No grants are transferred to the scholarship laureates as monetary funds.

- Applicants for single subject courses and Bachelor´s programmes at Chalmers are not eligible for Chalmers’ scholarships.
