Candidates wishing to take part in the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship programme must meet the following requirements:
The AMS is highly selective. Applicants will be selected on the basis of academic merit, such as grade average, letter of recommendation and motivation. See official website for complete selection criteria.

Participating Institutions
University of Amsterdam (UvA), Amsterdam, Netherlands
Fields of study
All available Masters degree programs offered at the university. Students interested in an AMS should contact the faculty or international school offering the study programme of their choice for more information.
Number of awards
Not specified, but in the past, about 120 scholarships are awarded every year
Sponsorship duration
Selected students receive a scholarship for the official duration of the programme they are enrolled in. The scholarship for one-and-a-half or two-year programmes will only be renewed if the student is making satisfactory progress towards the degree. Scholarship continuation is not guaranteed when a candidate changes his or her degree programme.
Scholarship benefits
The value of the grant is €6,000 - €21,000. The scholarship consists of €6,000, €9,000 or €12,000 but awards are based on the comprehensive financial plan, which should demonstrate the extent of the need for additional funding.
Please note that the scholarship cannot be used as a (partial) tuition waiver. The applicant must still pay the full amount of tuition due. Scholarship holders will receive their grant in monthly installments.
Method of Application
You must have been fully admitted to a degree program at UVA before you can be considered for this scholarship. The AMS scholarships are awarded by the faculties and graduate schools themselves, so application procedures vary per faculty/school.
Applicants must contact the faculty or international school offering the study programme of their choice for more information on specific application procedure and requirements.
