When is Android 7.0 Nougat coming to my phone?

Every year a major update to Android is released. This year's update is called Android Nougat, following the theme of the dessert-inspired name.

Unlike previous updates, Nougat was first released to developers in March and as of 22 August, it began rolling out to Nexus devices. It's still early days for Android Nougat, despite arriving much earlier than other major Android builds, but we will continually update this feature as we learn more information on what devices will be updated when.

Android 7.0 Nougat: Release date

Google confirmed it would begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to current Nexus devices as of 22 August. This is much earlier than previous major updates, which in the past, haven't appeared until early October.
The LG V20, officially unveiled on 6 September, was the first device to feature Android Nougat right out of the box.

Android 7.0 Nougat: Pixel and Pixel XL

Google is holding an event on 4 October, where it is expected to announce the Pixel and Pixel XL, the two devices that are rumoured to be replacing the Nexus range.
It has been claimed these devices will launch on Android 7.1, which will be the first major Nougat update.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: Nexus devices

Google said it would begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat "over the coming weeks" from 22 August. The company confirmed the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C would all be getting an over-the-air update.
Android Police reported on 14 September the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE updates would be rolling out "in the coming weeks".
Any devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program will also receive the final version but Google has not specified whether this would include the Sony Xperia Z3. There has also been no word on the Nexus 5.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: BlackBerry

BlackBerry is all about Android now with Priv and the recently announced DTEK50 already available, as well as two more devices rumoured for release by early 2017. The BlackBerry Priv launched on Android Lollipop and it took six months to see an update to Marshmallow.
With a bit of luck BlackBerry will speed things up for Android Nougat but early 2017 is probably more likely than the end of 2016.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: HTC

HTC operates a 90-day promise for software updates and the company also says your device will be updated for two years following its release.
It has confirmed via Twitter that it has received the "final shipping Android 7.0 Nougat software" and that it expects to roll out to begin in Q4. HTC has said Android Nougat will be coming to unlocked models of the HTC 10, HTC One A9 and the HTC One M9, as well as carrier versions.
There was no mention of the One M8 but expect Android Nougat on HTC around the end of November 2016.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: Huawei

Huawei began offering Android Marshmallow devices from November 2015 when it launched its Mate 8 with the software pre-loaded. This might therefore mean the company will do the same this year, launching the Mate 9 with Android Nougat before the end of the year.
In terms of updates, it might be a couple more months before older devices see the Nougat update but Huawei is a little quicker than others.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: Honor

Sub-brand of Huawei, Honor, launched the Honor 7 Enhanced Edition in December 2015, offering Android Marshmallow from the box.
The Honor 5X and the standard model of the Honor 7 then both received the Marshmallow update a couple of months later around March so early 2017 for Android Nougat is a safer bet than end of 2016.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: LG

LG was one of the first manufacturers to deliver the Marshmallow update, with G4 users in Poland getting it from mid-October 2015. The main push for Europe then came in November 2015, continuing to March 2016 when the G3 received the Marshmallow update.
With this in mind, chances are LG G5 owners will see an Android Nougat update within a couple of months of the final build release, perhaps before 2016 is out. Users with older handsets like the LG G4 may have to wait a few more months but early 2017 is plausible based on this year's update schedule.
The company also confirmed the LG V20 on 6 September, which is the company's first device running Android 7.0 Nougat and as we mentioned, the first device to arrive with the new software out of the box.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: Motorola

Motorola devices receive Android updates a lot faster than some other devices thanks to the minimal additions Motorola puts over the top of the raw Android software.
The Android Marshmallow update schedule for Moto started in December 2015 so we would expect similar for the newest Moto handsets when it comes to Android Nougat. Aside from Nexus devices, Motorola handsets are likely to be some of the first to receive the 7.0 update.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: OnePlus

OnePlus hasn't been the fastest at updating its devices to Marshmallow. The OnePlus 2 didn't receive the update until the beginning of June for example.
Based on this, we wouldn't expect Android Nougat to hit the OnePlus 2 or rumoured OnePlus 3 until later in 2017 than other devices. They were some of the last to receive Marshmallow but perhaps that won't the the case for Android Nougat.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: Samsung

Samsung phased a roll-out for the Marshmallow update, with some devices receiving it in South Korea at the end of January 2016. Other regions and devices had to wait a little longer with updates still being pushed in March 2016.
The company was rolling out updates for Lollipop 31 days after its release though so hopefully Android Nougat will be a little quicker than Marshmallow has been. Regions and networks play a role too so it isn't just down to Samsung to get things ready for the next update.

Android 7.0 Nougat update: Sony Xperia

Sony has announced it will make Android Nougat available to the Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia X Performance.
The company said the update would come to devices "as quickly as we can", but it didn't specify exactly how quickly this would be. We will update this feature as more information is made available.
