Having selected its research theme for the year, the department opens a call for visiting fellowship applications, and selects early career scholars who are normally based in African institutions.
When visiting fellows arrive in the department, they join in a series of developmental activities which are organised around the annual research theme and are open to members of academic staff and postgraduate students. Eligibility The department is looking for early-career scholars whose research would benefit from a residential fellowship of approximately six weeks at the University of Birmingham.
Applicants must be based in an African institution.
Applicants should be in the early stages of their academic careers (that is, they should have completed a PhD within the last four years, or now be close to completing one) and they must demonstrate that their research is relevant to the theme selected for the current year.

The Fellowship covers short-term research, training or participatory research work in physical, chemical or biological sciences in reputed scientific institutions in India including JNCASR.
The programme has attracted young scientists from developing countries all over the world to visit Indian centres of excellence for research training and collaborations.
Eligibility Applicant must be a scientist, teacher or a research scholar affiliated to a scientific or academic institution in a developing country in Asia (other than India), Africa, Latin America and Arab region.

It was established by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, and is located in Jakkur, Bangalore, India. Its mandate is to pursue and promote scientific research and training at the frontiers of science and engineering.
The Centre for International Co-operation in Science or CICS is mandated to promote science- and technology-related (ST) activities for the mutual benefit of the scientists of developing countries. Basic Space Technology Initiative Fellowship Programme: United Nations/Japan Long-term Fellowship Programme 2017
Course(s) Offered: Engineering, Technology Course Level: Research fellowship (Masters, Phd) Provider: UNOOSA, Government of Japan Country to Study in: Japan Scholarship Description The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Government of Japan in cooperation with the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) have established a United Nations/Japan Long-term Fellowship Programme on Nano-Satellite Technologies for nationals of developing countries or non-space-faring nations.
Every year this "Post-graduate study on Nano-Satellite Technologies (PNST)" Fellowship Programme will accept students in both the Masters course and the Doctorate course. Successful participants will be awarded a master or doctorate degree after successful thesis defence. The successful candidates will enroll in the Space Engineering International Course (SEIC) after passing an official entrance examination by the Graduate School of Kyushu Institute of Technology.
The Programme will provide extensive research opportunities in nano-satellite systems through the use of the nano-satellite development and testing facilities available at Kyutech. Applications for the 2017 intake are now being accepted until 22 January 2017.
Eligibility Candidates should:
Be nationals of developing countries or non-space-faring nations (countries without an established substantial capability to develop space technology/launch space objects);
Be duly nominated by their institutions;
Be born on or after 2 April 1982;
Have the academic and professional background required by the specific fellowship programme. Candidates seeking a Master degree are expected to have completed studies ending with a Bachelor Degree or equivalent (4 year university degree) in engineering-related subjects. Candidates seeking a Doctorate degree are expected to have completed studies ending with a Master Degree or equivalent (5 years university degree) in engineering-related subjects. Degrees in different technological fields can be considered by the Doctor Commission;and
Be able to make professional use of the experience gained in the fellowship programme.

Each candidate will be provided, according to his/her itinerary and route as designated by MEXT, an economy class air ticket between an international airport in the country of his/her nationality and Narita International Airport or Fukuoka International Airport.
Fees for matriculation, tuition and entrance examinations will be paid by Kyutech.
