Scholarship Description
The Cambridge Trust is a major source of funding to scholars at Cambridge and offers a number of scholarships for postgraduate students.
Schlumberger works with the Cambridge Trust to offer the Schlumberger Cambridge International Scholarship, available to PhD applicants in subjects relevant to the work of the Schlumberger Gould Research (SGR) Centre.
Applications are, therefore, invited from eligible applicants.
Eligibility
These are guidelines on eligibility for scholarships that are available from the Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust:
a). Nationality: All students, irrespective of nationality, are eligible to be considered for funding by the Trust.
b). Status: The Trust does not accept applications from students who are part-way through a course at Cambridge, unless they are applying for funding towards a higher degree course following graduation.
c). Degree level: Applicants must be intending to start a course at the level of undergraduate (excluding UK/EU applicants), Masters (such as MPhil, MASt, LLM), or research postgraduate (such as PhD).
The Trust does not have scholarships available for post-doctoral positions, or for visiting or exchange students.
The Trust does not have scholarships available for part-time postgraduate degrees, and part-time undergraduate study is not available at the University of Cambridge.
d). Subject: Applicants may study any subject currently available at the University.
e). Application and Admission: All students must be admitted to the University of Cambridge through the normal application procedures. The Trust plays no role in the admission of applicants to the University, and is not able to influence the chances of an applicant being offered a place.
f). Equality: The Trust is committed to equality of opportunity, and no applicant will be treated less favourably than another on the grounds of gender (including gender reassignment), marital or parental status, race, ethnic or national origin, colour, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age. The primary consideration in the selection of Scholars will be applicants' ability to meet the selection criteria for each scholarship.

Applicants may apply to only subjects relevant to the work of the Schlumberger Gould Research Centre in Cambridge (formerly, Schlumberger Cambridge Research Center).
Research at the SGR Center focuses on drilling, chemistry, fluid mechanics, and seismics. In each domain, SGR combines three strands of research: theory, experiment, and computational simulation. Research teams are multidisciplinary, embracing physics, chemistry, materials science, mathematics, statistics, earth sciences, solid and fluid mechanics, computer science, and instrumentation.

All students must be admitted to the University of Cambridge through the normal application procedures. The Trust plays no role in the admission of applicants to the University, and is not able to influence the chances of an applicant being offered a place.
Application to the Schlumberger Cambridge International Scholarship is by statement in University of Cambridge application. Applications are invited in subjects relevant to the work of the Schlumberger Cambridge Research Center.

Apply to Cambridge for admission by 7 December 2016 (for international students) or 4 January 2017 (for UK and EU applicants) to be considered by the Trust for financial support on a course starting October 2017.
PLEASE NOTE:
Applicants are encouraged to meet the entry requirements of the University as early as possible, including (if necessary) the completion of an English language test. This will help to prevent the Trust from offering valuable scholarships to students who are ultimately unable to take up their places at Cambridge.
The Schlumberger Cambridge International Scholarships which targets PhD students (mainly from developing countries) is funded in collaboration with the Schlumberger Gould Research Centre (formerly, Schlumberger Cambridge Research Limited).
The Schlumberger Gould Research facility is a distinctive marquee-like structure dominating the High Cross site on the western outskirts of Cambridge. The building houses laboratory space and offices for more than 100 scientists and technicians.
