Scholarship Description
The King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) provides full MS and PhD scholarships to both Saudi and international graduate students.

The KFUPM full scholarships are for distinguished graduate applicants who demonstrate high potential for conducting original research in the fields of Engineering, Sciences and Business.

The university offers several master and doctoral programs, and welcome outstanding and talented prospective graduate students from the nation and around the world to apply for Graduate Studies.


Eligibility
The minimum requirements for possible admission in Master programs in engineering or sciences are as below:

  • A four-year Bachelor’s (B.S.) Degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
  • A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent, and a GPA of 3.00 in the subject of the major field. Official transcripts and degree certificates are required for final admission.
  • Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 520 (PBT), 190 (CBT) or 68 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies (KFUPM code is 0868). IELTS is also acceptable (min 6.0).
  • Acceptable General Graduate Record Examination (GRE), which should also be reported directly (KFUPM code is 0868). (Minimum required GRE score is Quantitative: 156, Analytical: 4.0 and Verbal:143)
  • At least three letters of recommendation from the faculty who taught the applicant university-level courses. [to be submitted through the online recommendation system]
  • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.
The minimum requirements for possible admission as a regular graduate student in a Master program in Business Administration are as follows:
  • A four-year Bachelor’s (B.A., B.S. or B.E.) Degree in business, engineering or sciences fields from a recognized institution.
  • A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.00 on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent. Official transcripts and degree certificates are required for final admission.
  • Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 520 (PBT), 190 (CBT) or 68 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies (KFUPM code is 0868). IELTS is also acceptable (min 6.0).
  • Completion of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) with a minimum score of 450. The GMAT scores must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies (KFUPM code for GMAT is 0868).
  • At least three letters of recommendation from the faculty who taught the applicant undergraduate courses. [to be submitted through the online recommendation system]
  • At least one course in college level calculus which covers both differentiation and integration subjects.
  • A working knowledge of computers as evidenced by at least one course in that area (e.g. data processing, programming, information systems, etc.)
  • At least one-year of full-time work experience. This requirement may be waived for graduate assistants, research assistants, and applicants with exceptional academic records. For Executive MBA program, a minimum experience of 8 years, including 3 years in mid or upper level managerial position.
  • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.
The minimum requirements for possible admission to the Ph.D. Programs as a regular graduate student in engineering or sciences are as follows:
  • An M.S. degree in engineering or science from an institution whose graduate programs are equivalent to those of (KFUPM), with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent in both the B.S. and M.S. degrees. Official transcripts and degree certificates are required for admission.
  • Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score for MS admission of 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT) or 79 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies.The KFUPM code is 0868.IELTS is also acceptable [min 6.5]
  • Completion of General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with acceptable score.
  • At least three letters of recommendation from the faculty who taught the applicant graduate courses.
  • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.

Scholarship benefits
Aside full MS and PhD scholarships, the KFUPM also awards assistantships to enrolled masters and Phd students, as follows:
  1. Two types of assistantships are offered to enrolled Master students:
    • Graduate Assistantship: Open to exceptional Saudi Graduate Assistants continuing MS degrees at KFUPM, who display outstanding performance in their Bachelor education.
    • Research Assistantship: Open to national and international Master students, whose performance is exceptional in their Bachelor education.

  2. Two types of lectureships are offered to enrolled Ph.D. students:
    • Lecturer: Open to exceptional Saudi Lecturers continuing Ph.D. degrees at KFUPM, who perform excellent in their Bachelor & Master education.
    • Lecturer-B: Open to national and international exceptional Ph.D. students, whose performance is exceptional in their Bachelor & Master education.
Method of Application
All graduate admissions are administered by the Deanship of Graduate Studies (DGS). Candidates who intend to enroll in graduate programs at the University need to submit an online application available on the website of the DGS.

The online application is available only during the application periods according to posted application deadlines on the official website.

After submission of the online application, mandatory documents need to be uploaded through the Upload System using the same Login ID and PIN created for the online application.

The graduate admission is open twice a year for the two semesters: The Fall Term (usually starting in September) and the Spring Term (usually starting in February).
